Step-by-Step: Crochet Water Bottle Cover

Step 1 – Make a Magic Ring
Start with a magic ring. Crochet 6 single crochet (SC) stitches into the ring and pull it tight.

Step 2 – Make the Bottom
Increase the stitches gradually:

Round 1: 6 SC
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch = 12 SC
Round 3: 1 SC, increase around = 18 SC
Round 4: 2 SC, increase around = 24 SC

Continue increasing until the circle is approximately the same diameter as the bottom of your bottle.

Step 3 – Build the Sides
Once the bottom is wide enough, stop increasing. Crochet 1 SC in every stitch around.

Continue working in rounds until the cover reaches most of the way up the bottle.

Step 4 – Check the Fit
Place the bottle inside the cover regularly. The crochet should fit snugly without being too tight.

Step 5 – Add a Second Color
For a two-color design, switch to a contrasting yarn for 2–4 rounds. Then switch back to your main color.

For example:
Pink → Cream → Pink → Cream

Step 6 – Make the Top Edge
When you reach the desired height, crochet 1–2 rounds of SC around the top to give the cover a neat and firm edge.

Step 7 – Make a Carrying Strap
Attach yarn to one side of the top edge and make a chain long enough to comfortably carry the bottle.

Attach the other end to the opposite side with several SC stitches. Reinforce both attachment points so the strap is strong.

Step 8 – Add Decoration
You can add a small crochet flower, heart, bow, leaf, or your YarnArtisty logo tag to personalize the cover.

Step 9 – Finish Your Cover
Cut the yarn and pull it through the final loop. Use a yarn needle to weave the loose end securely into the stitches.
